We had a wonderful worship event with Jimmie Black this past Friday and Saturday at the Red Lion Inn in Salem, Oregon. Afterward, it was clearly evident that we had witnessed a Divine Appointment! Numerous people were ministered to and remarked about their personal excitement in seeing Worship being restored to the Hebrew Roots/Messianic Movement! We wholeheartedly concur! Though the event was tremendously successful from a spiritual standpoint, I was so grieved at the lack of response when we shared the need for financial help in hosting that event and future events. We incurred expenses totaling more than $3000.00 and the two-night offerings, including the Talit ticket sales, accounted for less than half – just a bit over $1200. This left Manna responsible for an out-of-pocket expense of over $1500! Forcing my family to dip into our own rent money in order to honor our commitment. So what you may reply, since Manna promoted and hosted the event. Yet, many attended in person and online via the Messianic Lamb broadcast, thereby taking advantage of a wonderful opportunity, receiving a tremendous value, yet declined to respond with an offering of any size. And frankly, after tallying what did come in, most of that came from less than 10 people whose giving was recorded! That is simply amazing since the attendance for both nights was just a bit less than 200 people!
The result is that Manna must now revisit our future plans for bringing in speakers, conferences, Passover Seders, and even our Sukkoth plans, (we must have $2500 deposit by Feb. 1st) in order to maintain a viable financial base. It also has sadly caused us to rethink our own value to the local community, which is reflected in your giving or lack thereof. Prayerfully, you will receive this update in the spirit in which it was sent. I’m not complaining only stating simple facts: If we are to continue, then we need help.
Just today, I saw national statistics regarding tithing: Only 3-5 percent give regularly. Yet, those who do, typically have less debt than other demographics – 8 out of 10 have zero credit card debt and 28% are debt free. What is appalling is that many Hebrews who won’t give, use the excuse that tithing is a “CHURCH” thing. Yet, unflinchingly are first in line at all events to receive “their fair share”. Someone’s value system is skewed! I’ve even been attacked for putting a price tag on the books and materials that we work hard to produce as if our labor – like this past event – has no value!
I’m sharing these things with you as we seek direction from Abba about our future. For those of you who’ve stood by us and supported the work out of your own needs we are ever grateful and pray that you will continue to stand with us and help us as we revisit our vision here and work toward restructuring financially in order to properly maintain the Trust of Abba in the oversight given us as stewards.
In His Service,
