VaYetze/”And He Went Out”, Genesis 28:10-32:3, provides the details of the building of the house of Israel! Jacob’s journey can be viewed one of two ways – as running out of fear from Esau, exiled and disgraced as a deceiver or sent out on a journey designed to prepare him and mold him into the man who would take on the mantle of Israel! The house of Jacob today once again is in the exact same position! This then raises several questions! If Jacob’s journey is the pattern for his scattered house today – is our state of exile for a greater purpose, once again designed to transform us into Israel?
