Terumah/”Contribution”, Exodus 25:1-27:19, details the request for the offerings to build the Tabernacle, and the revealing of the pattern! Exodus 25:8 – “And let them make me a sanctuary, that I may dwell among them.” Among them is the Hebrew phrase betokam בְּתוֹכָֽם better translated as “in them”! If Israel was to be the dwelling place, then what is the purpose of this physical structure they are to build? And does the answer to this question then reveal the perversion of that purpose in the coming third temple?
